New Cake Eater Commenting Policies
Well, the Cake Eater got hacked last week.
Some clever bot took advantage of a Drupal weakness and sneaked almost four hundred comment spams in through this crevice. They did this in, oh, under fifteen minutes. I was lucky I was at the computer when the emails started flooding in, otherwise, God only knows how many they would have managed to put on here. They even managed to open up comments on posts where I had already closed commenting. Fuckers. Die, you bastard comment spammers, die! (Although, I do find it interesting that comment spammers have finally taken the advice I gave lo those many years ago, and have started producing spam that actually has relevancy to the post on which they choose to defile. Granted, it's copying of the comments others have posted, but, still, it's enough to make you do a double take at first. ) Anyway, now that the comment spammers have upped their game, I have to up mine in return.
Also, I am sorry about this, but a few legitimate comments were deleted whilst I was cleaning up the mess. Again, I am sorry about this, but it was either do a mass delete, or spend a thousand hours deleting them one by one.
Now for the rules of the road:
First off, there will no longer be ANY anonymous commenting. Sorry about that. I've never been really fond of anonymous commenting, but realize that it's easier for some people, and have left it open. Well, no longer. Sorry about that, but I have no choice in the matter. Well, that's not really true. I do have a choice. I choose in favor of me not having to spend my spare time deleting a thousand comment spams offering pr0n of all varieties to you, my devoted Cake Eater readers. Law of self-preservation kicking in. Sorry about that, but I'm sure you'd do the same.
And, second, if you would like to comment, you will need to register. Registering is very easy, and once approved, you will be able to comment to your heart's content. Seriously, folks. Registering is not that hard, and you can do all sorts of neat stuff when you've registered.
Of course, all of this is dependent upon my providing some content which you'd want to comment about, which doesn't seem to be the case lately, but, me being me, I'll inevitably pour forth at some point. Have faith, my devoted Cake Eater readers.
